Bra ide kanske men vill du vara helt r\u00e4tt i tiden \u00e4r det snarare &#8220;Veganuary&#8221; du skall satsa p\u00e5. Ett initiativ som f\u00f6rst fick f\u00e4ste i Storbritannien, men nu vinner mark \u00e4ven i USA. Tanken \u00e4r f\u00f6rst\u00e5s att h\u00e4lla sig borta fr\u00e5n mat och produkter som kommer fr\u00e5n djurriket och snarare h\u00e5lla sig till en vegandiet den f\u00f6rsta m\u00e5naden av n\u00e4sta \u00e5r.<\/p>\n<p>Under januari detta \u00e5ret 2019, s\u00e5 var det fler \u00e4n en kvarts miljon m\u00e4nniskor som utgav sig f\u00f6r att prova Veganuary, och fler \u00e4n 500 varum\u00e4rken, restauranger och livsmedelsaff\u00e4rer st\u00e4llde sig bakom kampanjen som lyckades skapa drygt 200 nya veganprodukter enbart p\u00e5 den brittiska marknaden.<\/p>\n<p>Idag \u00e4r det l\u00e4ttare \u00e4n n\u00e5gonsin att klara sig utan k\u00f6tt h\u00e4vdar m\u00e5nga, fr\u00e4mst med tanke p\u00e5 alla \u201cfake meat\u201d produkter i handeln. Men \u00e4nd\u00e5 finns det dem som tror att en Veganuary kan ha motsatt effekt. Allts\u00e5 att folk skulle leva p\u00e5 en vegandiet under januari f\u00f6r att i februari \u00e4ta mer k\u00f6tt \u00e4n n\u00e5nsin. Traci Mann, psykologiprofessor fr\u00e5n the University of Minnesota, s\u00e4ger i en intervju med SF Gate (lokalt nyhetsmagasin fr\u00e5n San Fransisco) f\u00f6ljande:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIn general, denying yourself something makes you want to eat it more \u2014 and then eat it more.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>S\u00e5 f\u00f6rutom det lite tveksamma namnet, vad \u00e4r d\u00e5 Veganuary? Jo det \u00e4r en non-profit organisation som k\u00e4mpar f\u00f6r att folk skall h\u00e5lla sig till en vegankost under januari, och vidare. Wendy Matthews \u00e4r ansvarig i USA och s\u00e4ger i en intervju med the Washington Post att n\u00e4stan h\u00e4lften av de som deltog i den senaste Veganuary h\u00f6ll sig till en vegankost \u00e4ven efter januari. Det n\u00e4mns dock inte hur m\u00e5nga som var veganer innan januari. Projektet lanserades faktiskt redan 2014, med 2019 som sitt b\u00e4sta \u00e5r hittills. I \u00e5r har man allts\u00e5 som vi tidigare n\u00e4mnt satsat \u00e4nnu h\u00e5rdare inf\u00f6r 2020. Man har lyckats dra till sig n\u00e5gra av de stora Hollywood profilerna, personer som Joaquin Phoenix, Alicia Silverstone, Mayim Bialik, och Evanna Lynch \u00e4r bara n\u00e5gra av de som st\u00e4llts sig bakom kampanjen. I \u00e5r satsar man p\u00e5 en \u00f6kning upp till 350 000 deltagare, men \u00e4n s\u00e5 l\u00e4nge har det tyv\u00e4rr vart ljummet intresse d\u00e5 endast 65.000 har officiellt anm\u00e4lt sig. Men man hoppas att fler skall engagera sig n\u00e4r det b\u00f6rjar bli dags f\u00f6r ny\u00e5rsl\u00f6ften att avl\u00e4ggas.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIf you look at the climate crisis or the violence of our food system and feel helpless, thinking \u2018I wish there was something I could do\u2019\u2014you can.
